Member of Parliament (MP) for Ningo Prampram, Samuel Nartey George engaged in a heated argument with Dr. Bossman Asare, the Deputy Electoral Commissioner in charge of Corporate Services over the supposed “maltreatment” of EC officials at the regional collation center.
Dr. Bossman Asare accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of threatening and maltreating EC officials who are now afraid for their lives.
According to Dr. Bossman Asare, the regional director of the EC relayed this information to him.
Reacting to the allegation, Sam George was quick to dispel it, saying that with the police presence at the regional collation center, no one would there threaten any EC official.
“Nobody maltreated anyone here. Mr. Bossman you see you’re not here we are here and nothing of that sort happened. Today the police have even set up a barricade in there. Your regional director was not here last night. Your regional director left this place. She left this place at 4 pm and we started (collating) Ablekuma North at 5pm,” Sam George said.
Sam George assured Dr. Asare of the safety of all EC officials, saying, ”nobody should be afraid of their lives.”
Dr. Bossman Asare then told Sam George that regardless of the situation on grounds, the Commission was suspending all proceedings to resolve nine (9) parliamentary disputes nationwide until further notice.
This sparked opposition with Sam George retorting in objection, “we are saying to you, both the NDC and NPP are saying we should proceed.”
