The Communication Officer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Obuasi East constituency has been beaten to a pulp by some military men today, December 7, 2024.
The Communication Officer earlier today faced off with two military men today who were heading towards a polling center in the constituency, an action which is against their mandate. The NDC’s communication officer who would not have it took it upon themselves to prevent them from proceeding further.
In a video which has surfaced on the internet, when the confrontation started getting heated, a civilian picked up his phone to record the incident, but one soldier could be heard telling him to put down his phone.
The civilian however disregarded his demands as the Communication Officer also told a second soldier to also stop recording.
The 1st soldier attempted to bypass the NDC communication officer and heed towards the polling station but he blocked his path.
His actions infuriated the soldiers who started to manhandle him, and eventually led to the soldiers firing warning shots.
Although the NDC communication officer was outnumbered, he stood his grounds and would not be intimidated.
The two soldiers after suffering defeat and humiliation came back to the community with reinforcement and subjected the Communication officer to severe beatings, with the military men beating him with the butt of their guns.
According to information reaching yawanews.com, the NDC Obuasi East communication officer is currently receiving treatment at a nearby hospital.
