Alfred Nii Kotey Ashie, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for Odododiodioo, has expressed strong confidence in securing a victory in the upcoming elections.
Speaking while monitoring the special voting exercise at Jamestown Police Station, Ashie declared that if the election is conducted fairly and transparently, his opponent, Abdul Mannaf Sowah of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), will not even secure 35 percent of the vote.
“Victory is overwhelming. People know what they’ve gone through with the NPP, and when they compare it to their experience with the NDC, they tell us they want John Mahama back,” Ashie said.
“Both John Mahama and I are confident that we will win these elections, as long as there is no manipulation.
In fact, my opponent will not even get 35 percent of the vote. Worst-case scenario, I am winning with 63%. It could even be higher, because we have worked hard.
I will make His Excellency John Mahama proud and deliver the votes he deserves.”
Ashie also responded to allegations of vote buying in the area. “Yes, it’s true. Last night, I heard reports that people were being given packages of rice, oil, and money to influence their votes.
Most of those who received these packages contacted me afterwards. The feedback has been consistent,” he said.
“The people know how much I have served them with the little I have, and they appreciate the fact that if I am given a better opportunity, I will do even more for them.”
