Two buses full of “machomen” from Burkina Faso, allegedly brought in by the New Patriotic Party (NPP), were arrested today at Sefwi Asawinso.
The arrival of these individuals has sparked concerns about potential violence and intimidation at polling stations during the upcoming elections.
Meanwhile, the National Election Security Taskforce is taking decisive steps to ensure a peaceful and fair election.
In a recent engagement with political parties, the Chairman of the Election Security Taskforce, Inspector General of Police Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, issued a stern warning.
He cautioned political parties against using “macho men” to intimidate voters or cause disruption on Election Day.
The Police have also cautioned against dressing foot soldiers in state security uniforms to sow confusion and fear among voters.
“Any attempt to create mayhem at polling stations will be dealt with firmly,” Dr. Dampare stressed.
This development comes after a previous meeting held four nights ago to review the readiness of the National Election Security Taskforce.
