Eyewitnesses described the chaos, stating that the police, who were initially deployed to maintain order, were quickly outnumbered and overwhelmed by the rowdy crowd.
“This is not a movie; this is happening right here in Ghana!” one onlooker shouted as the officers were forced to retreat in the face of the aggression.
Footage from the scene shows police running in haste, seeking refuge from the hostile group, some of whom were reportedly wielding firearms.
