Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s campaign spokesperson, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has urged the Ghana Immigration Service to intensify border security to prevent illegal entry of foreigners ahead of the general elections.
He emphasized that this measure is crucial to ensure that non-Ghanaians do not unlawfully enter the country to take part in the upcoming December elections.
His comments follow information by the Ghana Immigration Service on the arrest of the NDC Secretary for Akatsi North for attempting to transport dummy ballot papers to Togo, claiming to be for voter education.
During a press conference held on December 6, Miracles Aboagye emphasized that the election on December 7 is exclusively for the citizens of Ghana and will be determined solely by the Ghanaian populace.
Miracles said, “We ask the Ghana Immigration Service, as we commend them to increase vigilance across our borders and to ensure that non-Ghanaians are not smuggled into Ghana to vote.
“Clearly, the intention is there and we have to do everything to ensure that we do not allow that to happen. This election is for Ghanaians and will be decided by the Ghanaian people only.”
