Member of Parliament-elect for the Asante Akyem North constituency, Ohene Kwame Frimpong has disclosed why he chose to go independent.
Andy Appiah-Kubi lost the Asante Akyem North seat to Independent Candidate, Ohene Kwame Frimpong.
Ohene Kwame Frimpong secured a winning margin of 26,926 votes to defeat the sitting MP.
Andy Appiah Kubi of the NPP managed to poll 8,933 votes while the NDC candidate Kofi Asamoah polled 2,469 votes.
Ohene Kwame Frimpong beat them all with a wide margin by polling 35,859 votes.
Speaking after his victory, the MP-elect indicated he wanted to contest the seat on behalf of a particular political party, but had to pull the brakes because of a requirement.
“The way of the party I would have gone with, required me to pay huge sums to over 500 delegates, to induce them to vote for me,” he disclosed.
