Outgoing Member of Parliament (MP) for Adansi Asokwa, Kobina Tahir Hammond affectionately called K.T Hammond says he was deceived by his constituents heading into the December 7, 2024 polls.
According to the MP, during the campaign period he visited some communities in his constituency and constituents promised to vote for him massively but it turned out to be false.
K.T Hammond disclosed that communities in which he had undertaken massive developmental projects even failed to vote for him.
“In certain places I went to and what I knew of the places, in fact they were places that I had done so much that when I went round campaigning they said that, I now think that there was an irony in what that they said. They said “we will vote for you as a thank you. God bless you we will vote to say thank you. And they didn’t vote,” he said in an interview post his loss.
The MP noted that although the National Democratic Congress (NDC) won in Adansi Asokwa, his constituents did not for either the NDC or the NPP.
The NDC’s Godwin Animli Dorgbadzi-Dorani won the Adansi Asokwa seat with 14,229 votes, representing 51.73% of total votes cast, while the incumbent MP, Kobina Tahir Hammond polled 13,276 votes with 48.27% of total votes cast to loss the seat.
The December 7, 2024 polls has seen the NPP lose some of its seats, especially seats belonging to some bigwigs and ministers.
