Member of Parliament (MP) for Asante Akim North, Andy Appiah-Kubi, has shared a shocking account of the personal toll he faced during his outspoken advocacy for the removal of Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta.
Speaking candidly in a recent interview on joyfm , Appiah-Kubi revealed that his life was once in danger as a result of his involvement in the campaign to oust Ofori-Atta.
In an emotional recount, Appiah-Kubi disclosed how his advocacy led to internal tensions within his own government.
He shared that these pressures had serious consequences, including a period where his health deteriorated significantly.
“My life at some point in time was in danger,” he said.
“I suffered some ailment through the period, got treated, though I was fortunate, and I thank God that I’m still alive.”
“It’s an internal anxiety. Some people talk about it in the press, exaggerating it, but I suffered pain.
I got treated over time and healed by the miracle of God,” he said.
Appiah-Kubi, who attributed his recovery to divine intervention, explained that he was even forced to stay in the hospital for several days due to concerns about his health.
“I was not conscious enough to take care of myself,” he recalled. “There were attempts to move me from the hospital to a different facility, but my wife refused the offer.
I stayed there for close to seven days until God worked miraculously, and I survived.”
“I’ve learned to be more careful now,” he said. Reflecting on his ordeal, he emphasized the high stakes involved in his advocacy, revealing that certain powerful figures had wanted to punish him for his stance on the removal of Ofori-Atta.
