The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Eastern Regional Director of Elections Alhaji Sidi Bello has cried out on the kind of stress the EC is taking them through.
According to Alhaji Sidi Bello, they do not know exactly when the new ballot papers will come, even the EC officials themselves do not know.
Speaking to the media during the Eastern Regional Elections Security Taskforce destruction of defective ballot papers on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, Alhaji Sidi Bello stated, “We don’t know exactly when the new ballot papers will come, even the EC officials they don’t know and we are supposed to conduct special voting on Thursday, today is Tuesday we have only one day that is Wednesday, to decide whether or to know whether the special voting will really come on as scheduled on Thursday”.
“Now all our constituency officers are going back, we don’t know when they will call them back, the stress is too much, the kind of stress the Electoral Commission is taking as though it’s unprecedented we didn’t expect this from them”, he lamented.
Alhaji Sidi Bello further stated, “So, we urge them, to be diligent in the work that they are doing so that we can all be on the same page, the way they are doing things is not clear to us”.
The Electoral Commission ordered a recall and reprinting of ballot papers for the Eastern and Western Regions after a leakage was detected with the initial ballot papers.Apart from Afram Plains North and South Constituencies, all the remaining 31 Constituencies presented their ballots for both presidential and parliamentary to be destroyed.
