The National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer John Dramani Mahama has been declared the winner of the 2024 elections presidential elections in Ghana.
According to the data from both the 2020 and 2024 presidential elections, John Mahama marginally improved upon his 2020 votes.
The 2020 presidential election saw a fierce contest between incumbent President Nana Akufo-Addo of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and former President John Dramani Mahama which ended in a first-round victory for Akufo-Addo.
Akufo-Addo secured re-election with 6,777,325 votes representing 51.3% of the vote, while Mahama garnered 6,264,517 votes representing 47.4%.
According to the EC’s certified results for the 2024 elections, Mahama secured 6,328,397 votes, representing 56.55% of the total valid votes cast. His closest contender, Dr. Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), garnered 4,657,304 votes, representing 41.61%.
The Electoral Commission of Ghana’s official results for both the 2020 elections and 2024 elections results so far without 9 constituencies show John Mahama only managed to improve on his 2020 election votes by 63,880 votes.
