Tension has erupted in the Asamankese constituency as angry youth from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) descended on the homes of constituency executives, demanding the immediate return of items allegedly hoarded by the executives.
The aid, intended for distribution to NPP strongholds, was reportedly procured by the Member of Parliament (MP) but never delivered to the intended beneficiaries.
The frustrated youth, who were angered by the mismanagement of resources, stormed the homes of the executives to forcibly seize the items.
If not for the timely intervention of the police, the situation could have quickly escalated into violence.
Witnesses claim that the youth were ready to resort to physical confrontation, with some even threatening to lynch the executives for their actions.
The items, which were meant to support NPP areas, were hoarded by the constituency executives, sparking widespread outrage among the party’s supporters.
In the wake of the incident, the youth have demanded the resignation of all constituency executives involved, accusing them of betraying the trust of the party faithful and mishandling resources meant for their benefit.
“The executives have failed us,” one of the protestors said.
“We are here to demand what is rightfully ours and to ensure that those responsible are held accountable.
If they cannot serve the party and its supporters, they must step down.”
