The Court has paused to deliberate on a case brought by the National Democratic Congress challenging the High Court’s decision to order the re-collation of election results.

The NDC are contesting the legality or fairness of the High Court’s directive concerning the re-collation of election results.

The Supreme Court is now reviewing the arguments and evidence presented to determine its ruling.

The Accra High Court ordered the Electoral Commission to re-collate results for outstanding constituencies after an Accra High Court ruling on December 21, directing the EC to finalize the election results for the six constituencies.

The disputed constituencies include Tema Central, Nsawam-Adoagyir, Ablekuma North, Ahafo Ano North, Techiman South, and Okaikwei Central constituencies.

The EC has so far re-collated results in seven of the nine constituencies, with Dome/Kwabenya and Ablekuma North still pending.

The NDC has accused the High Court Judge who ordered the EC re-collation of disputed constituencies of bias and procedural errors.

The NDC’s Director of Legal Affairs, Godwin Edudzi Tamakloe during the Supreme Court proceedings on Friday, December 27 stated that the Accra High Court denied the NDC the opportunity to present its case.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court judges deliberating on the proceedings includes the following:

  1. Justice Gabriel Pwamang – Presiding
  2. Justice Prof. Henrietta Mensa-Bonsu
  3. Justice Ernest Gaewu
  4. Justice Henry Anthony Kwofie
  5. Justice Adjei Frimpong
