Media personality Bridget Otoo has called out the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) for what she describes as substandard service and a lack of care for patients.
In a post shared on X she accused the staff of prioritizing financial gain over the well-being of patients and warned that their attitude could lead to the collapse of the facility.
“The staff at @ugmedicalcentre will collapse the place before anything else. Nice infrastructure, horrible service.
They don’t care about their patients, only their patients’ money.
I hope they do something about the place before they sink it!” she wrote.
Otoo further lamented the treatment her family member received at the facility, expressing disappointment in the nurses’ conduct.
“When your family member is sick, their well-being remains paramount! I won’t even remember the nurse’s face, but I won’t forget what she said.
Fortunately, other family members were present to witness the nonsense,”.
Her comments have sparked a flurry of reactions on social media, with many Ghanaians recounting their own negative experiences at the UGMC.
One user shared a harrowing story of how nurses at the facility allegedly administered a drug despite her known allergy.
“The nurses almost killed me! They gave me a drug I was allergic to.
Bro, my muscles and neck started twisting. They didn’t have anything to stabilize me.
Fortunately, a good doctor was passing by and helped me. He even blasted them. The nurses, 0/10,” she wrote.
the management of the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) is yet to respond to these allegations.
