The National Democratic Congress has made a shocking revelation about the Tepa post-election violence that occurred at the collation center.
The NDC alleges that the violence that broke out in Tepa, leading to property destruction and the postponement of the presidential and parliamentary election results was triggered by a romantic relationship between the NPP’s candidate and the district EC officer.
There was a chaotic scene at Tepa, Ashanti Region, on December 9, 2024, as gunshots rang out, leaving multiple people injured and rushed to the hospital.
Irate groups reportedly burnt some structures at the Tepa Senior High School where ballot materials used for Saturday’s presidential and parliamentary elections were kept.
In an interview with Kofi TV, an NDC member revealed, “The EC district director is a woman, she and the NPP candidate were in a relationship, who is the NADMO director, he sent him a WhatsApp message that things were getting ugly so he should act, it was 12: 42 midnight, and when she was running, he left his phone”.
“So, we have their WhatsApp message from this year February, Tepa, where they were having the collation, was not safe so our people wrote a letter there for it to be changed, the police commander supported us to change it, but the woman sent a message to the NPP candidate for him not to allow for the change, it all in the chat”.
The NDC man further detailed that upon reviewing her WhatsApp messages with the NPP parliamentary candidate, they discovered ongoing conversations, including the exchange of information regarding the parliamentary election.
