Member of Parliament (MP) for the Ningo Prampram constituency, Samuel Nartey George, has disclosed a list of countries in which bigwigs of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) are rushing to hide their ill gotten wealth in.
According to him, as recent as last week, he was well informed about one person who wanted to quickly hide away $5million in an offshore account.
He listed countries as Mauritius, Canary Islands, Guyana as safe heavens for these corrupt NPP bigwigs.
In an interview, he stated, “We know those who are moving money out of the country. Those moving money to the Isle of Man to Mauritius, to the Canary Islands to Guyana. We know them and they are moving money. Even last week, one of them called a remittance person and said look I need to move $5m, so how can you move it?”
He promised these politicians and political actors trying to move these monies out of the country, “look, you can’t leave to enjoy that money. You will not enjoy that money.”
Following a historic electoral victory in Ghana’s 2024 general elections, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), led by President-elect John Dramani Mahama, is expected to move ahead with its bold and controversial anti-corruption initiative: Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL).
This initiative, which topped Mahama’s 120-day social contract agenda, aims to address corruption, recover stolen state resources, and ensure accountability within the public sector.
