Returning officers found culpable of misconduct will face legal prosecution – Omane Boamah

Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, the Director of Elections for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has issued a stern warning to electoral officials who fail to follow the rules for the 2024 elections.

He stressed that returning officers found guilty of misconduct or malpractice will be subject to legal action.

In a Facebook post on Monday, December 9, Dr Boamah underscored the party’s unwavering commitment to protecting the integrity of the electoral process.

He reiterated that the NDC is closely monitoring activities collation centres to ensure strict compliance with electoral laws.

“Returning officers must uphold the principles of fairness and transparency.

Any deviation from these standards will not be tolerated, and those responsible will be held accountable under the law,” Dr Boamah stated.

He further called on the Electoral Commission (EC) to strengthen its oversight mechanisms to prevent irregularities and ensure that election results reflect the will of the people.

Dr Boamah concluded by urging all stakeholders to work together to maintain peace and integrity throughout the electoral process.
