According to her, during the campaign period, she always faced difficulties interacting with constituents as they did not take her serious because of her background in acting.

The actress suffered untold ridicule as people on numerous occasions told her that “ politics is not for ‘cantata’ people like me. I remember one man saying, “Does this girl think politics is the Cantata she acts?” she recounted.

Ebi Bright is a Ghanaian actress who has featured in over 20 movies, showcasing her talent and versatility as an actress. She made her first entry to politics in 2016. She won the primaries and stood to be elected as MP for Tema Central, but failed to do so in 2016 and 2020.

However, in the 2024 elections, Ebi Bright secured a total of 18,539 votes, narrowly defeating her opponent, Charles Forson of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), who garnered 18,421 votes.

The actress plans to use her victory to serve the interest of the people of Tema Central.

“I don’t see any barriers in the pursuit of my interests. That is why I have broken all the odds against me in this election. Tema Central was considered a very safe seat for the NPP but here we are today. I’m elated to be part of our next Parliament,” she said in an interview with Graphic Showbiz.
