The Electoral Commission of Ghana has addressed an incident in the Volta Region involving the District Electoral Officer for Afadjato South.
On December 5, the officer was questioned by police for transporting election materials in a private vehicle without the required police escort.
The EC’s policy dictates that all election materials must be transported in official vehicles, accompanied by a police escort when necessary.
This incident underscores the commission’s commitment to ensuring the integrity and security of electoral processes.
The statement, signed by Samuel Tettey, Deputy Chairman in charge of Operations, noted that the EC will conduct internal investigations into the breach while fully cooperating with the Police in their ongoing investigations.
The Commission reassured the public that, despite the officer’s breach of protocol, the integrity of the elections in the Afadjato South Constituency remains uncompromised.
