The Ghana Police Service has raided and arrested person’s affiliated to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for operating a ballot paper thumbprinting syndicate in Pokuase.
The gang which was operating at the Royal N hotel in Pokuase Amanfrom was busted after the police received a tip of their activities.
It is alleged the suspects had in their possession several ballot papers and were thumbprinting them for the NPP presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and parliamentary candidates for the Amasaman and Trobu constituencies.
The police retrieved laptops, cash, a BDV machine and printers in their possession.
With the December 7, 2024 general elections currently ongoing, Ghanaians have come out in their numbers to elect a new president and parliamentary candidates to lead the nation for the next four years.
The various political parties are on high alert as they keep an eagle eye on the elections, ensuring it is free and fair.
In total 18 million registered voters are set to decide the nation’s next president and the structure of the 275-member Parliament.
