Police arrest EC official at Kintampo South for issuing defective ballot papers

The Ghana Police Service has arrested an Electoral Commission (EC) official in the Kintampo South Constituency of the Bono East Region.

The EC official was arrested for allegedly issuing defective ballot papers during the ongoing general elections.

In a statement issued today, by the Ghana Police, they confirmed the arrest and assured the public that investigations is underway to determine the motive behind the incident.

The suspect, identified as Dery Joseph, is currently under investigation for distributing about 15 ballot papers at the Ampesika-Bayere polling station, which reportedly excluded the name of the first presidential candidate.

“We are committed to ensuring a free, fair, and transparent election process and will address any instances of malpractice swiftly,” parts of the statement read.
