The Ghana Police Service and the Ghana Immigration Service have intercepted some individuals suspected to have crossed the Aflao border illegally.
According to the reports, suspects crossed the Aflao border illegally and camped at a local basic school.
In a video shared by EDHUB, the individuals were shown being marched away from their hideout by the authorities, as residents of the town hoot at them.
Meanwhile, the Interior Ministry has declared the temporary closure of all land borders in Ghana.
According to the Ministry, this action is being taken to protect the integrity of the electoral process. The closure is effective immediately and will remain in force until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 8.
In a statement issued by the Minister for the Interior, Henry Quartey, the Ministry called on citizens and travelers to comply with the directive and cooperate with state security agencies enforcing it.
The decision to temporarily close the borders underscores the governmentâs commitment to ensuring a peaceful and secure environment for the elections.
