The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has gone after the Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon, Lydia Seyram Alhassan for sharing food to Special voters.
According to reports, an OSP official who was at the Legon Police Station, one of the special voting centers has confirmed the OSP has launched an investigation into the food-sharing incident.
Yesterday Lydia Seyram Alhassan was in a viral video sharing food and drinks with voters who are waiting for their turn in a queue to cast their ballot in the special voting exercise.
John Dumelo, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate in a media interview criticized the act as offensive and against electoral rules for the MP to be sharing what is suspected to be food packs with people waiting in line to cast their ballots in the Special Voting.
Speaking in an interview with the media, the member of parliament dismissed the allegations.
Lydia Alhassan stated, “I wasn’t here. I don’t know if you saw me here. I’ve been here since… I came here before 6 am, and I left here a few minutes ago. I don’t even know what you’re talking about, I am yet to find out from them what happened.”
