The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has reportedly sacked some 280 members.
According to reports, the 280 members of the NPP are from the Agona West Constituency of the Central region.
The 280 members comprise women and youth organizers, and polling station chairmen among other NPP members.
On Sunday, 15th December 2024 a meeting was held by the Constituency Executive Committee and the decision to sack the members was made unanimously based on the NPP Article 3(9)(1) of the Party’s Constitution (2017) as amended.
Those who sat for the meeting to decide the fate of the 280 members were made up of the Constituency officers, Municipal Chief Executive, Constituency Founding Members, Current and Former Council of Elders and Patrons, Constituency Disciplinary Committee members, and Electoral Area Coordinators.
Alhaji Gibrine Tanko the constituency Chairman in a statement revealed several complaints had been leveled at the members for anti-NPP misconduct.
Their misconduct includes standing as independent against the NPP in the 2024 parliamentary elections and declaring support for other parties.
The Agona West Constituency of the Central region moves following the NPP’s poor showing in the just-ended 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections with their main opponent, the NDC dominating them on both fronts.
