The minority leader in parliament Ato Forson has revealed that the NPP is proposing to purchase ships worth 140 million euros.
According to Ato Forson, it is very wrong for a government that is leaving office in three weeks to commit to such an expenditure.
He noted that if it is extremely important for the state, they should allow the new government to commit them.
Speaking in parliament, Ato Forson stated, “This morning, I made it clear to my colleague Hon. Afenyo Markin that it will be wrong for an outgoing government to commit an incoming government to millions of US dollars which will be a physical strain on the next budget”.
“I said this on the backdrop that before us they are proposing to buy worth 140 million euros at this time, it is very wrong for a government that is leaving office in 3 weeks to commit 140 million euros if it is extremely important for the state to allow the new government to commit them”, he detailed.
Ato Forson further emphasized that the NPP is trying to make the next government carry its burden of 350 million.
He added, “The tax exemptions before us if approved will have a physical burden in the next budget so you are saying the next government should carry your burden of 350 million dollars no way, no way it is not going to happen”.
“As we speak there is no 2025 budget activities before us, cannot commit to the 2025 budget, you don’t know the priority of the next government, Hon. Kyei Mensah Bonsu is a precedent to me in 2016 what he said to us it was that reason today we were not able to take the loan for Damongo water”, The lawmaker reiterated boldly.
