Spokesperson for John Dramani Mahama’s campaign team, Beatrice Annan says the Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s digitization drive is a sham.
According to her, the digitization drive is only an effort of the ruling government to throw dust in the eyes of Ghanaians and rob them blind.
Her comment follows a fresh expose which alleges that there are over 40,000 ghost names in the books of the National Service Secretariat (NSS).
In a series of post on X by @GhanaCrimes and @Datanomics_the data of active NSS personnel have been inflated by 40,000 names. It is reported that the 40,000 ghost names are said to be working in state institutions and paid an allowance of Ghc 715 monthly like clockwork.
It is allegedly this crime has been perpetuated for some 36 months, thus three (3) long years.
This means that persons or the syndicate receiving the allowances on behalf of these 40,000 ghost individuals makes a whooping Ghc343m per year for 3 years.
It is further being alleged that Gifty Oware-Aboagye Deputy Executive Director, General Services at the National Service Secretariat oversaw the payment of these allowances into the accounts of the 40,000 ghost service personnel.
Reacting to the scandal on her X page, Beatrice Annan quoted a story attributed to Dr. Bawumia which read “Ghost names eliminated from government payroll through Ghana Card”.
She captioned the screenshot “Bawumia’s digitalization could not detect the 40,000 fake beneficiaries of our taxes at the NSS. The joke is on Bawumia and the NPP. The lies are too many.”
