Leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Anthony Karbo, has rejected claims that the NDC inherited a struggling economy due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Speaking in an interview on TV3, Karbo stated that the economy was thriving before President John Dramani Mahama took office, contrary to claims made by the opposition.
“The NDC did not inherit a lockdown-ridden economy because of Covid-19,” Karbo said. “The economy was doing well until Mahama took over.”
He went on to highlight the relief measures the NPP government implemented during the pandemic, including suspending electricity and water payments for households and reducing electricity prices by over 30%.
Karbo emphasized that these actions were part of the government’s efforts to support Ghanaians during the difficult period.
“The pandemic had a global impact, but the NDC didn’t face any external shocks when they were in power,” Karbo added.
“Their main issue was how to address the problems they left behind and manage the economy effectively.”
