The Board Chairman of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), Freddie Blay, has refuted claims that his family has unlawfully taken money or property from the government.
Speaking in an interview with my JoyNews, Mr. Blay denied allegations of wrongdoing, asserting that neither he nor his children have engaged in any activities to unlawfully acquire government property.
“My family has not taken a pesewa from the government unlawfully. We’ve not taken any government land or money. These allegations are baseless, and there is no proof to support them,”.
“If someone claims we’ve done something wrong, they should provide evidence. We are already in court over these defamatory accusations.
My two children and I have sued Ablakwa for defamation because we have not stolen any government property,”.
He criticized what he described as a coordinated effort to tarnish his reputation, including protests and accusations of “state capture.”
In response to inquiries about whether he would appear before the ORAL Committee, Mr. Blay expressed readiness but with reservations about the conduct of its leadership.
“If the committee is properly constituted and acts within its mandate, I am willing to appear if invited. However, given the defamatory and libelous remarks made by the committee chair, Samuel Ablakwa, I might lose my temper during the session,”.
Mr. Blay urged Ghanaians to critically examine the facts before drawing conclusions, insisting his integrity and that of his family remain intact.
