Some irate youth of the Ashanti Region have reportedly stormed the Akyeamfour bus terminal in Kumasi and destroyed buses bound to Techiman believed to be owned by members of the latter town.
The youth who stormed the bus terminal with weapons vandalized several vehicles with car owners looking on, unable to stop the destruction.
It is suspected that their actions were in response to an incident which took place in Techiman which saw the Asantehene’s convoy being attacked by some youth in Techiman.
Unknown youth angrily hurled stones at the convoy of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, in Techiman, Bono East Region.
The convoy, returning to Kumasi after a funeral in Nkoranza on Monday, December 2, 2024, faced attacks by unidentified youths, as captured in a viral video.
The aggressive attack caused damage to several buses as well as injured some of the passengers in the bus, raising nationwide concern.
Reports suggest that the attackers may be local youths from Techiman.
The Ghana Police Service has also initiated an investigation into an alleged attack on the convoy.
