It has been revealed that a number of Kenyan nationals were registered as National Service Personnel in the new NSS “Ghost names scandal”.
In a series of post on X by @GhanaCrimes and @Datanomics_the data of active NSS personnel have been inflated by 40,000 names. It is reported that the 40,000 ghost names are said to be working in state institutions and paid an allowance of Ghc 715 monthly like clockwork.
It is allegedly this crime has been perpetuated for some 36 months, thus three (3) long years.
This means that persons or the syndicate receiving the allowances on behalf of these 40,000 ghost individuals makes a whooping Ghc343m per year for 3 years.
It is further being alleged that Gifty Oware-Aboagye Deputy Executive Director, General Services at the National Service Secretariat oversaw the payment of these allowances into the accounts of the 40,000 ghost service personnel.
As Deputy Executive Director in charge of General Services, she has responsibility for administration and finance, helping to manage an annual personnel pool of about 100,000.
