Prior to his appointment as Chief of Staff, he had served as the Minister of Local Government and Rural Development the one year prior.

Julius Debrah being appointed as John Mahama’s Chief of Staff once again after the NDC’s landslide victory over the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at the December 7, 2024 polls is no surprise to Ghanaians.

Although his appointment is yet to be made public, he has been named Co-Chairperson of the transition team for John Dramani Mahama in accordance with the Presidential (Transition) Act, 2012 (Act 845), an indication of the veracity of the rumors.
