A joint Police and Immigration task force has arrested a number of people suspected to have illegally crossed to Ghana on election day.
These alleged aliens are said to have crossed the border at Aflao illegally, and we swooped in their hideout at a local basic school.
In a video posted on X by EdHub, the arrested persons were hooted at by residents of the border town as the taskforce led the suspected aliens to a waiting bus.
The Interior Ministry has announced the temporary closure of all land borders in Ghana ahead of tomorrow’s elections.
This measure, which the Ministry says is aimed at safeguarding the integrity of the electoral process, is effective immediately and will remain in place until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 8.
In a statement issued by the Minister for the Interior, Henry Quartey, the Ministry called on citizens and travellers to comply with the directive and cooperate with state security agencies enforcing it.
The decision to temporarily close the borders underscores the government’s commitment to ensuring a peaceful and secure environment for the elections.
