The presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Dramani Mahama has fired the MP for Ayawaso West Wuogon Lydia Alhassan for distribution food during the special voting.
According to John Mahama, the right authority must investigate the situation that happened during the special voting in the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency.
During the Special voting on Monday, December 2, 2024, Member of Parliament Lydia Seyram Alhassan was in a viral video sharing food and drinks with voters who were waiting for their turn in a queue to cast their ballot in the special voting exercise.
Speaking on a campaign platform, John Mahama criticized the member of parliament, saying, “When people are in a queue and are going to vote, they bring food and other stuff to deceive people, that thing is against the laws, and I am surprised someone in parliament that is called Honorable, and you are sharing food to voters going to vote”.
“No, we don’t do it that way, that incident we have to look at it, and those who have to investigate it must investigate to know what happened”, he added.
Meanwhile, John Dumelo, the NDC’s Parliamentary Candidate for the Ayawaso West Wuogon has filed a petition at the Special Prosecutor’s office over Lydia’s actions.
