John Dumelo, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate-elect for Ayawaso West Wuogon, has organised free buses for students heading home for their Christmas vacation.
In a post on his X page, Dumelo shared, “Yesterday, I organized free buses for Legon students for their Xmas vacation. Some students from UPSA and GIMPA also joined.
Have an amazing holiday Folks!!!”
The initiative provided a convenient and affordable transportation option for students from the University of Ghana, UPSA, and GIMPA, allowing them to travel home for the holidays with ease.
This comes after Dumelo’s victory in the just-ended presidential and parliamentary elections, where he unseated the incumbent Member of Parliament, Lydia Seyram Alhassan of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
His victory marks a significant political shift in the constituency, with Dumelo set to represent Ayawaso West Wuogon in the next parliament.
Meanwhile, Lydia Seyram Alhassan, who had previously launched a free shuttle service for students, withdrew the initiative following her electoral defeat.
The service, which aimed to alleviate transportation challenges for students, was launched on November 18, 2024, but was discontinued after Alhassan’s loss.
