Parliamentary Candidate of the Dome Kwabenya constituency on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Michael Aaron Oquaye Jnr. has expressed confidence of retaining the seat for the party.
Mike Oquaye Jnr. who refers to himself as “an area” boasts of his relationship with the people of Dome Kwabenya as the key to him retaining the seat.
“I am an area boy. I have been living here since 1981. I have a lot of relationships with people. I was only 10 years old when I moved into this area. So, for me this is a local backyard. Others may be coming from other places to attempt to be part of us but I am the area boy, I am the local boy and we will work with the people accordingly,” he told the press during the special voting exercise.
The politician indicated that apart from securing the NPP’s stronghold in the constituency, the party is making inroads in the strongholds of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
“Dome Kwabenya is a safe seat. They know the work the NPP does for them. They relate to the NPP and this time I am even going into her stronghold to take some of her so-called core voters from them,” he added.
With high expectations for the December 7 2024 elections, Mike Oquaye Jnr reiterated Dome Kwabenya being a safe seat and pledged to retain the seat for the NPP. “It is a safe seat for the NPP and the NDC knows it. They want to cause a lot of ruckus but we will win the seat,” he intimated.
Dome Kwabenya has over the years experienced stiff competition between the NPP and NDC although it is known to be an NPP seat. Going into the December 7, 2024 elections, Michael Aaron Oquaye Jnr will face of with Elikplim Akurugu of the NDC.
