The member of parliament for Tamale South Hon Haruna Iddrisu has stated if Ghana needs a National Cathedral, John Mahama together with the church will decide.
According to Haruna Iddrisu, John Mahama will not use state funds to complete the national cathedral if Ghana needs one.
Speaking on TV3, he stated, “Completion of National Cathedral but not with state funds, President Mahama is smarter than that if this country needs a Cathedral, he will together with the church sit down and decide what to do with it, but not with State resources, not with Public Resources and not the waste we are seeing over there”.
“And when we say accountability how can 38 million dollars and you are swimming in it, what have you seen, is that worth 38 million dollars”, he detailed.
Haruna Iddrisu further revealed, “Let me give you one assurance that every good project started by this government is consistent with the directive principle of State policy President Mahama will execute and complete all those projects subject to value for money and appreciation of those projects, whether it was a Hospital, School block, or whatever”.
Meanwhile, the National Cathedral project was suspended in 2022 due to financial constraints and controversy surrounding the project, it is estimated that the project requires $450 million to complete.
