The Deputy Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Malik Basintale, has issued a bold ultimatum to the party, vowing to lead the youth to vote against the NDC if they fail to scrap the controversial 10% betting tax once sworn into power.
In a fiery interview on TV3’s New Day with Roland Walker, Basintale said, “The boys say scrap it.
If you are unable to scrap it within four years, I will personally lead the boys to vote against the NDC.”
He made it clear that there would be no excuse for not abolishing the tax, which he claims is burdensome to the youth.
“How am I going to explain to them if this is not done? If the people demand something, and you don’t deliver, you should come and raise your hand and say, ‘Vote me out.’ It’s that simple,” he stated.
Basintale also criticized the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) for failing to fulfill key promises, such as the “One District, One Factory” and “One District, One Warehouse” initiatives.
“We thought the NPP would have done these things, but they didn’t.
They should have come out and said, ‘Vote us out.’ Because they couldn’t deliver,” he added.
“If we couldn’t scrap it, we should come out and say we couldn’t deliver.
We are sorry. Vote us out. There’s no turning back, no explanation, and no excuse for it.”
