Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has expressed dissatisfaction with Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s decision to concede, suggesting that it disregarded the sentiments of grassroots supporters within the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
His comments come amidst rising tensions following political developments in the country.
Addressing the concerns of NPP foot soldiers, Afenyo-Markin noted that Dr. Bawumia’s actions have left many party loyalists feeling unheard.
“If Dr. Bawumia had been sensitive to the sentiments of foot soldiers, he wouldn’t have conceded, as many in the NPP are unhappy,” he stated.
The Majority Leader emphasized the importance of aligning leadership decisions with the expectations of the party’s grassroots base to maintain unity and trust.
Shifting his focus to the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Afenyo-Markin called on their representatives to boldly communicate their losses to their constituents.
He argued that the NDC’s reluctance to acknowledge electoral outcomes is fueling unrest among their supporters.
“Their inability to do so is causing further tension.
The NDC leadership must take responsibility and be honest with their followers,” he remarked.
