Former NPP Deputy General Secretary Nana Obiri Boahen has declared support for President-Elect John Mahama’s Operation-Recover-All-Loot (ORAL) initiative.

Speaking on Wontumi Radio, he stated he would not follow his party’s stance in opposing the anti-corruption drive.

He said that if the policy would help recover all of the resources of the country that have been looted by politicians and other public officials, then he fully supported it.

“As a country, we still import tomatoes, onions, and watermelon. Are you not scared? Are you not worried?
Because the NDC has won the election and has a majority in Parliament, NPP members should condemn their ORAL team.

“I’m not going to condemn it. All NPP members can adhere to this and condemn the ORAL. I, Obiri Boahen, would not condemn it,” he said in the Twi dialect.

He added, “If something is going to help recover all the things that have been stolen from the country, is it not a good thing?”

Obiri Boahen also stated his support for the NDC’s rejection of the over $350 million tax waivers being sought by the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo government.

He indicated that there was no justification for granting the waivers because of the economic challenges the country finds itself in.

“How do you give tax waivers of $350 billion?” the former deputy general secretary quizzed.
