Afenyo-Markin, the majority leader of parliament has revealed he foresees a lot of NDC MPs becoming redundant in the 9th parliament.
He noted that the NDC promised a lean government with 60 ministers.
According to Afenyo-Markin about 40 MPs will come from Parliament with the remaining 140 being redundant in parliament.
Speaking on JOY FM Super Morning Show, Afenyo-Markin explained, “NDC has an overwhelming majority in parliament, you know they have promised a lean government I can foresee a lot of their MPs being redundant”.
“So, they promised 60 ministers of the 60 some will have to come from parliament because of constitutional customs so they are going to have about 35 or a maximum of 40 MPs who will be ministers and deputies”, he added.
The majority leader added, “If you take that out of their over 170 seats, they will have about 140 MPs which is huge and will be redundant in parliament and all they will have to come and do in parliament is to do yer yer”.
“These MPs will have demands from their constituents, I am taking to you in practical terms, I know what I know and they will be expected to go to their constituencies, the money will not be there because only a few would have had ministerial appointment and that is where their woes will start”, he added.
Afenyo-Markin further revealed the NPP also faced the same problems in the current parliament in getting their members to the chamber.
