Samuel Adu Frimpong, professionally known by his stage name Medikal has shared his thoughts on the government’s actions during his arrest and his outlook on the incoming administration, including his mixed feelings towards ex-President Mahama.
In an exclusive interview with TV3, Medikal opened up about his unfair treatment while jailed in Ankaful, saying, “It was too harsh.
I wasn’t displaying the firearm in public, nor was I firing any weapon anywhere.”
Despite this, he was arrested and held in custody, later acquitted and discharged by the courts.
However, even after his acquittal, Medikal revealed that his licensed firearm, which had been seized during the arrest, was not returned to him.
“I still don’t have it after three years,”
“There’s an order from above” was often cited when he sought answers, referring to his continued struggle to regain his property after the court ruled in his favor.
“You can’t intentionally hurt someone and then take them to the hospital and say you did them a favor.”
Despite his negative experiences, Medikal expressed a cautious hope for the future, particularly regarding the creative arts sector.
Although he admitted to not fully trusting the incoming government, he gave a 60% trust rating to ex-President Mahama, citing the people around him who are known to be invested in the arts.
“I believe in Mahama small, but I don’t trust anybody,” he said, highlighting his wariness given his past experiences.
