Ghanaian journalist, Bridget Otoo, has reacted to the a screenshot of the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Nsawam Adoagyiri constituency, Frank Annoh-Dompreh making payments to voters after they had voted.
A social media user posted a screenshot of a mobile money transaction from the MP.
From the screenshot, it can be seen that the MP made a transfer of Ghc250.00 from an account under his name with the reference “TnT”, which translates to money for transportation.
Bridget Otoo reacting to the screenshot said, “Ah but he’s only sharing the people’s money to them. They just need to vote against him too.”
It has become normal practice in Ghanaian politics for political parties and politicians to give voters money as transportation after elections.
In some cases, politicians even organize buses to transport voters to and from various regions to cast their ballots, feed them and give them some money as well.
The morality of these actions have been questioned but they keep happening election after election.
