NPP Parliamentary Candidate for Adentan, Akosua Asaa Manu (Kozie), has accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of orchestrating an attack on her driver, leaving him with serious injuries.
The incident took place while she was out with her polling agents during the special voting process.
Speaking about the attack, Kozie said, “My driver stopped somewhere this morning, and two individuals got out of the car ,One was dressed in NDC paraphernalia, and the other wore long boots.
According to an eyewitness, one of them struck my driver with a stick, causing a deep wound that required stitches. He was rushed to the hospital this morning.”
“I’ve not been able to reach him by phone because I’m here, but he’s hurt very, very hurt.
He’s a tough, strong guy, and anyone else might not have survived it, but thankfully he did.
It’s unfortunate that, just days before the election, we face such violence.”
“Nobody wants their child or family member supporting a candidate to be hurt in the process,” she stated, adding that the incident had been reported to the police.
Kozie mentioned that the medical report had been filed, and the police were already following up on the case with the help of eyewitnesses who could identify the attackers.
“The police have been proactive and are working to gather footage from CCTV cameras in the area.
We are confident that they will do their best, and we hope to obtain video footage of the attackers.”
“This is about human life. No one should be subjected to violence because of their political beliefs.”`
