The Electoral Commission of Ghana officially declared the results of the 2024 presidentiZl election, announcing John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) as President-elect on Monday, December 9, 2024.

According to the Chairperson of the Commission, Madam Jane Mensah, results from 267 out of 276 constituencies showed that Mahama secured 6,328,397 votes, representing 56.55% of the total valid votes cast.

His closest contender, Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), garnered 4,657,304 votes, representing 41.61% out of 11, 430, 531 vote casts

The announcement follows days of tension and anticipation as Ghanaians waited for the final verdict and after Dr. Bawumia conceded defeat. The total voter turnout was reported at 60.9%, with 11, 430, 531 valid votes cast out of the 18, 774, 159 registered voters.

However, the most humiliating aspect of the election was the fact that Dr. Bawumia garnered zero votes in some polling stations in Northern Ghana.

This has shocked Ghanaians as one of the main reasons the NPP backed Dr. Bawumia for flagbearer and subsequently presidential candidate for the December 7, 2024 elections was with hopes that his candidature would improve the fortunes of the party in the Northern region.

Below is the list of polling stations in Bawku and Binduri where Dr. Bawumia garnered zero votes;
