The President, Nana Akufo-Addo, has given a directive prohibiting all government officials and appointees from acquiring official state vehicles used during their tenure.
The Office of the President has issued a clear mandate prohibiting outgoing Ministers, Deputy Ministers, Regional Ministers, and other political appointees from acquiring official government vehicles as the current administration concludes its term in office.
In a statement signed by the Director of Communications, Eugene Arhin, the directive stresses that no government vehicles will be made available for acquisition by appointees.
This policy continues from the one first introduced at the end of President Akufo-Addo’s first term in 2020.
The statement also reaffirmed President Akufo-Addo’s commitment to accountability and the responsible management of state resources, emphasizing that the longstanding convention allowing appointees to acquire one official saloon vehicle through valuation by the State Transport Company Ltd.
will not apply under the current administration.
