President-elect John Dramani Mahama has sent a message to the Political elites in Ghana.
John Mahama noted that Politicians believe that the power that they wield over the people belongs to themselves.
According to him, God has made Politicians know that power belongs to the people.
Speaking on Sunday, December 15, 2024, during his Thanksgiving at the Assemblies of God, John Mahama stated, “ We have practiced democracy since 1992, with time the political elite and I will say including myself, all of us who God have given the opportunity to lead this country we have grown in arrogance and selfishness and we have believed that the power that we wielded over the people belong to us ourselves”.
“And did not recognize it was God, who gave it to us, temporarily, so God has made us know that power belongs to the people”, he added.
John Mahama further warned his prospective political appointees saying, “It should serve as a lesson to those of us coming into government, that the same stick that Takyi has been beaten with, Ghanaian people are reserving it for Baah, anyone considering themselves for various positions, I just want to warn them, it is not going to be a walk in the park if you are not prepared to work and serve the people of Ghana diligently and modesty with humility then don’t come just stay where you are”.
