Sammy Gyamfi, the National Communication Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has revealed that 147 million cedis was spent on the ECG power app.
According to Sammy Gyamfi, whenever a Ghanaian purchase electricity through the app 1% is deducted to the company called Hubtel.
Speaking on United Showbiz, Sammy Gyamfi stated, ““I don’t use the app to buy power, ECG IT staff came up with their app, and the app could be used on our phones in our palms to buy electricity. When Bawumia came he said he did not like the ones made by Ghanaians, so he bought his own company called Hubtel”.
“The app they brought, they paid 147 million cedis, I can show you the report, and I can pull them out for you, ACEP has even issued a statement on it. 147 million cedis for an app”, he revealed.
The NDC national communicator further detailed, “If you buy electricity almost 1% is deducted to the company, when this app came, it was supposed to improve revenue collections now the ECG is losing money, today their technical and commercial losses are 32% so what was the use of the app?”
“When you are paying your light bills you are paying to Bawumia because the 1% goes there, ask which office in government introduced Hubtel to ECG and supervised that deal, you check”, he added.
