The Ghana Police Service is set to deploy advanced drones and three helicopters to ensure smooth election monitoring during this year’s general elections.
This initiative, procured under the leadership of President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr. Bawumia, aims to enhance security and provide seamless oversight during the electoral process.
In a related development, the National Elections Security Taskforce, led by Inspector General of Police (IGP) George Akuffo Dampare, has issued a stern warning to private security operatives, cautioning them not to interfere with the work of state security forces before, during, or after the elections.
This follows concerns over the involvement of vigilante groups acting as private security for political figures in previous elections.
Speaking to the Association of Private Security Organizations, IGP Dampare reassured the public that the state security agencies would maintain full control over election security, assuring Ghanaians that no private entity would be allowed to intimidate voters or disrupt the electoral process.
