A hiccup occurred during the special voting exercise at the Jamestown Police Station today, when a security officer’s name was found missing from the voter register.
The officer, who had applied for special voting, was unable to locate his name in the list, raising concerns about the accuracy of the register.
According to the Returning Officer, Eric, the issue was likely due to the officer not following up after submitting his name for the special voting process.
` “He had applied but didn’t make a follow-up to ensure his name was added,” Eric explained. “It appears there was some miscommunication regarding the registration process.”
Despite this isolated incident, the special voting exercise at the Jamestown Police Station proceeded smoothly, with over 50 voters casting their ballots by midday.
Eric confirmed that a total of 530,500 voters were expected to participate in today’s special voting.
once voters confirmed their names at the reference table, they were verified, issued a ballot, and directed to the voting booth.
