Education Minister issues last-minute contracts, appointments – Abass sounds alarm

The Ashanti Regional Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Abass Nurudeen has allegedly accused the Education Minister Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum of abuse of office and misuse of public funds.

Abass Nurudeen asserted that credible intelligence has brought to light that Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, is allegedly engaging in questionable actions as your tenure as Education Minister nears its end.

According to him, the education minister is hurriedly issuing contracts, and the appointment of consultants without transparency.

Abass Nurudeen in a post on Facebook wrote, “Reports suggest the hurried issuance of contracts, the appointment of consultants without transparency of which some are taking as much as $120,000, including a certain ‘Vera’”.

“We have been reliably informed about the intentions to sponsor certain individuals on trips to the UK with business class for holidays. These actions, if true, represent a blatant abuse of office, a misuse of public funds, and a betrayal of the trust Ghanaians placed in you”, he added.

The NDC communicator added, “Let me remind you that your position is a public trust, not a personal privilege. Your primary duty is to serve the people of Ghana, not to advance personal or political interests. Any attempts to misuse your authority or public resources will be treated as violations of the law, including the Public Procurement Act and other anti-corruption regulations. As a public officer, you remain accountable for your actions, even after leaving office”.

He further reiterated that Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum consider this a serious warning, any further acts that undermine public trust will face legal and public scrutiny.
